How BuildCrux Uses (and Doesn't Use) Your Plans

BuildCrux is a product of TackOn LLC. We're building our own estimating AI — here's exactly what that does, and doesn't, mean for the files you upload.

Last updated: July 29, 2026

The short version

We use de-identifiedcopies of the files you upload to improve BuildCrux's own AI. On by default, and a company admin can turn it off anytime in Settings. Your files are never sold, never shared with third parties, and never sent to an outside AI to train theirs.

Two separate things — don't confuse them

Third-party AI processing (not a choice, unchanged): every AI estimate is generated by a third-party AI provider that uses your content only to produce your result. As our Privacy Policy states, “Content submitted is not used to train external AI models.” That has not changed.

BuildCrux model training (your choice, this page):we also use de-identified copies of your uploads to improve BuildCrux's own models. It's on by default, and you can turn it off. Turning one on or off does not affect the other.

What we use

The files you upload for AI features — their geometry and structure — and the labels our software already computes from them (for example, verified dimensions and detected wall, room, or door regions). For this purpose we retain those computed labels and an internal reference to your already-stored file; we collect nothing new. A file is de-identified before it is used to train a model.

How we de-identify

Before a file is used for training, we remove or redact information that reasonably identifies a person or project: on drawings, the title block, project name, company name, client or owner names, project address, contact details, project numbers, dollar amounts, and preparer/architect identity; on photos and documents, faces, names, addresses, and comparable identifying details. What remains is drawing geometry and construction labels.

What we never do

Never sell your files. Never share them with third parties or affiliates for their purposes. Never send them to an external AI provider to train that provider's models. Never pool one workspace's files with another's — your files stay within your workspace.

How to turn it off

A company owner or admin can turn it off at any time at Settings → AI & Service Improvement, or by emailing privacy@buildcrux.com. When you turn it off, we stop using your files for new training and remove your de-identified copies from our training corpus going forward. One honest limitation: a model that has already been trained cannot be “untrained,” so turning it off is forward-looking. It has no effect on your subscription, pricing, features, or the estimates you receive.

Your ownership

You keep ownership of your files (Terms Section 5.1). Export and deletion work as described in our Privacy Policy. The full terms are in our Terms of Service, Section 5.

Questions

privacy@buildcrux.com · operator TackOn LLC. This page documents the BuildCrux AI Model Training practice, which is implemented for BuildCrux. The consent choice described here — on by default, with a company-admin opt-out, and de-identification before any file is used to train a model — matches production. The broader use of other file types you upload reflects the permitted scope of this practice as it rolls out.
